Jugar is the only common -ar verb with a u→ue stem change: juego, juegas, juega, jugamos, jugáis, juegan. It is irregular in a way no other -ar verb is.

The u→ue change

jugar → jug. The u becomes ue in all forms except nosotros/vosotros: juego, juegas, juega, jugamos, jugáis, juegan. Remember: it is jugar with a "j", not *jugar with a "g".

jugar → jug। u बदलकर ue हो जाता है सिवाय nosotros/vosotros के: juego, juegas, juega, jugamos, jugáis, juegan। याद रखें: "g" के साथ jugar, "g" के साथ *jugar नहीं।

Jugar in sentences

Yo juego al fútbol. (I play football.) Ella juega al tenis. (She plays tennis.) Nosotros jugamos a las cartas. (We play cards.) ¿Jugáis al ajedrez? (Do you plural play chess?)

Yo juego al fútbol। (मैं फुटबॉल खेलता हूँ।) Ella juega al tenis। (वह टेनिस खेलती है।) Nosotros jugamos a las cartas। (हम ताश खेलते हैं।) ¿Jugáis al ajedrez? (क्या आप लोग शतरंज खेलते हैं?)

Writing jugo instead of juego

A learner writes jugo by analogy with other -ar verbs. But jugar is a stem-changing verb: juego, not jugo. This is the single most common error with this verb.

शिक्षाष्टी अन्य -ar क्रियाओं के अनुरूप *jugo लिखता है। पर jugar एक स्टेम-बदलने वाली क्रिया है: juego, *jugo नहीं। यह इस क्रिया की सबसे आम गलती है।

Think: jugar = jueg-

When conjugating jugar, imagine the stem is jueg- (not jug-). Juego, juegas, juegan all come from jueg-. Only nosotros/vosotros go back to jug-.

jugar को संयुक्त करते समय स्टेम jueg- (jug- नहीं) की कल्पना करें। Juego, juegas, juegan — सभी jueg- से आते हैं। सिर्फ़ nosotros/vosotros jug- पर वापस जाते हैं।
