Foundations A1
Spanish uses 27 letters — the same 26 as English plus ñ. Five vowels, each with one clear sound, make pronunciation far more regular than English.
Foundations — The Spanish alphabet, vowels and pronunciation rules.
Spanish has exactly five vowels: a, e, i, o, u. Each has one sound and only one — a (ah), e (eh), i (ee), o (oh), u (oo). There are no silent vowels and no vowel that changes sound depending on its neighbours. This is the single biggest difference from English.
स्पैनिश में ठीक पाँच स्वर होते हैं: a, e, i, o, u। हर एक की एक ध्वनि और सिर्फ़ एक है — a (ah), e (eh), i (ee), o (oh), u (oo)। न तो कोई मौन स्वर है और न ही कोई स्वर जो पड़ोसी अक्षरों से बदले। यह अंग्रेज़ी से सबसे बड़ा अंतर है।
ñ is the extra letter in the Spanish alphabet and makes a ny sound, as in "canyon". It is a separate letter, not an n with a mark. mañana (tomorrow), niño (child), español (Spanish) all use it.
ñ स्पैनिश वर्णमाला का अतिरिक्त अक्षर है और "ny" की ध्वनि बनाता है, जैसे "canyon" में। यह अलग अक्षर है, चिह्न लगा n नहीं। mañana (कल), बच्चा, español (स्पैनिश) — सभी में यह आता है।
Spanish is read almost exactly as it is written. b and v sound the same (a soft v). h is always silent. j is a hard "h" like in "hotel". g before e or i is the same hard "h"; before a, o, u it is a normal g. There is no guessing: the rule is fixed.
स्पैनिश लगभग वैसे ही बोली जाती है जैसे लिखी जाती है। b और v एक जैसे बोले जाते हैं। h हमेशा मौन रहता है। j कठोर "h" जैसा होता है जैसे "hotel" में। g, e या i से पहले वही कठोर "h" बनता है; a, o, u से पहले सामान्य g। कोई अनुमान नहीं: नियम तय है।
The vowel i always sounds "ee": misa (mass), fin (end), vivir (to live). The vowel u always sounds "oo": luna (moon), uno (one), tú (you). If you can say the five vowels, you can read any Spanish word.
स्वर i हमेशा "ee" बनता है: misa (जनसभा), fin (अंत), vivir (जीना)। स्वर u हमेशा "oo" बनता है: luna (चाँद), uno (एक), tú (तुम)। पाँच स्वर बोल लें तो कोई भी स्पैनिश शब्द पढ़ सकते हैं।
An English speaker reads the a in "gracias" as "ay", the e in "mesa" as "ee", and the i in "fin" as "eye". None of those is right. Gracias is "GRA-see-as", mesa is "MEH-sa", fin is "feen". Train the five vowels first and the rest takes care of itself.
अंग्रेज़ी बोलने वाला "gracias" के a को "ay" बोलता है, "mesa" के e को "ee", "fin" के i को "eye"। इनमें से कोई भी सही नहीं है। Gracias "GRA-see-as", mesa "MEH-sa", fin "feen" होता है। पाँच स्वर पहले सीखें, बाकी अपने आप ठीक हो जाता है।
Because Spanish spelling matches its sound so closely, reading a word aloud immediately tells you whether your vowels are right. Ten minutes of reading Spanish words aloud fixes your ear faster than any grammar lesson.
क्योंकि स्पैनिश वर्तनी ध्वनि से बिलकुल मेल खाती है, शब्द को बोलने से तुरंत पता चल जाता है कि स्वर सही है या नहीं। दस मिनट स्पैनिश शब्द बोलकर पढ़ने से किसी भी व्याकरण पाठ से कान ज़्यादा तेज़ी से ठीक होता है।
